About the Author:

Vaidya Bhagwan Dash (1934–2015) was a distinguished Indian scholar and practitioner in the fields of Ayurveda and Tibetan medicine. He graduated in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery from Orissa in 1955 and furthered his studies in Ayurveda at the postgraduate training center in Jamnagar in 1958. Additionally, he completed a B.A. from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, in 1969, an M.A. in Sanskrit from Delhi University in 1973, and a Ph.D. in Tibetan Medicine from Delhi University in 1978. 

Dr. Dash's career spanned various roles, including serving as a Junior Research Physician at the S.M.S. Medical College in Baroda, Gujarat, in 1960. He held significant positions in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, such as Research Officer and Senior Research Officer in Ayurveda. His contributions were pivotal in developing and promoting Ayurveda both in India and internationally. 

As an author, Dr. Dash penned numerous books, manuals, and monographs on Ayurveda and Tibetan medicine, many of which have been translated into multiple languages. Notably, he co-authored a seven-volume English translation of the Charaka Samhita, a seminal Ayurvedic text. 

Dr. Dash's scholarly work and dedication to Ayurveda have left an indelible mark on the field, making his writings invaluable resources for those interested in traditional Indian medicine.
