Five Have a Wonderful Time (1952) is the eleventh book in Enid Blyton’s Famous Five series. In this adventure, Julian, Dick, Anne, George, and Timmy the dog embark on a holiday in horse-drawn caravans near Faynights Castle. While George recovers from a cold, the others set up camp and discover a ruined castle that appears deserted. However, they notice a face at the window, sparking their curiosity. Their investigation leads them to uncover a secret passage and a hidden tower where they find one of two missing scientists, Terry-Kane, who has been kidnapped by the villainous Pottersham. Despite an attempted rescue, the children are captured but are eventually freed with the help of fair performers and Mr. Slither’s snake. Pottersham is apprehended and taken into custody, bringing the adventure to a close. 

About the Author: 

Enid Blyton (1897–1968) was a prolific British author renowned for her children's books. Born in London, she began her writing career in the early 1920s and went on to author approximately 700 books and 2,000 short stories. Her most famous works include the Famous Five, Secret Seven, Five Find-Outers, Noddy, and Malory Towers series. Blyton's stories are characterized by adventure, mystery, and a clear distinction between good and evil.
