Sudha Murty, born in 1950 in Shiggaon, North Karnataka, is a multifaceted personality—an author, philanthropist, educator, and engineer. She holds a Master's in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. As the chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, she has been instrumental in spearheading numerous social initiatives. A prolific writer in both English and Kannada, Sudha has authored over 40 books, including novels, short stories, travelogues, and children's literature. Her works have been translated into all major Indian languages and have sold over 60 lakh copies. Sudha's literary contributions have earned her several prestigious awards, such as the Padma Shri in 2006, the Padma Bhushan in 2023, the R.K. Narayan Award for Literature, and the Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar in 2023. Additionally, she has been honored with 19 honorary doctorates from various universities across India.
