About the Author

Carol Susan Dweck (b. October 17, 1946) is a prominent American psychologist and Lewis and Virginia Eaton Professor of Psychology at Stanford University. Her pioneering work on motivation, personality, and development introduced the concepts of fixed vs. growth mindsets. Dweck earned her PhD from Yale in 1972 and has served on the faculty at Illinois, Harvard, Columbia, and Stanford .

She has received the prestigious E. L. Thorndike Award (2009), is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, and earned the Yidan Prize for Education Research in 2017 .
