About the Author —

Ruskin Bond is a cherished Indian author whose writing career spans more than six decades, with over 120 titles to his name, including novels, short stories, essays, poetry, and children’s literature. His debut novel, The Room on the Roof, earned the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize in 1957. Over the years, he has received notable honors such as the Padma Shri (1999), the Sahitya Akademi Award, the Padma Bhushan (2014), and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Delhi government (2012). Born in 1934 in Kasauli, Bond grew up across multiple cities including Shimla, Dehradun, and New Delhi, and currently resides in Mussoorie with his adopted family. His storytelling, deeply influenced by life in India’s foothills, continues to enchant readers of all ages with its simplicity, empathy, and connection to nature.
