Despite these challenges, he pursued a career in art, studying under various artists and immersing himself in the bohemian culture of Paris, particularly in the Montmartre district.

Toulouse-Lautrec's art is characterized by its candid and often unflinching portrayal of the Parisian nightlife, including scenes from cabarets, brothels, and theaters. His works, such as At the Moulin Rouge and the lithograph series Elles, showcase his ability to capture the essence of his subjects with empathy and realism. He was also a pioneer in the use of lithography, creating posters that became iconic representations of the era's entertainment culture.

Despite his success, Toulouse-Lautrec's life was marked by personal struggles, including health issues and alcoholism. He passed away on September 9, 1901, at the age of 36. Today, he is celebrated as a master of post-impressionism, and his works continue to influence artists and captivate audiences worldwide.
