About the Author – 

Chung Ching Wei (July 12, 1914 – February 20, 1987) was a Chinese‑born American engineer‑turned‑entrepreneur and bridge innovator. He earned a B.E. in electrical engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1936 and later emigrated to the U.S., where he built a successful shipping business . A passionate bridge enthusiast, Wei created the “China bidding system” (later known as Precision Club) in 1963 with the help of Alan Truscott. Though initially ignored, the system gained international recognition after Wei coached the Taiwan national team to runner‑up finishes in the 1969 and 1970 Bermuda Bowl tournaments, edging out North America in 1969 and spotlighting Precision’s power . He funded elite teams—such as the “Precision Team”—that won major U.S. tournaments including the Spingold and Vanderbilt in the early 1970s . At his death, Precision systems were described as “by far the most popular non‑standard method” in the world of expert bridge.
